Sharing my passion of food, travel all things that make my heart sing
greasy. hot off the griddle. made with love. organized chaos.
the definition of a diner.
who doesn’t love sitting up at a bar watching your food be made right in front of you? with the smell of cheeseburgers, fried eggs, beef hash, home-made soup and oh so much more.. all blended together in the air.
to some, this may not be your ideal brunch spot.
but me. i love a good diner meal. you know it’s made fresh, because well, you can watch it being made! you know it’s made by someone who’s worked there for years and knows just the right way to butter toast.
and to enjoy the diner experience in an actual streetcar from 1939?
count me in!
if you’re ever in the nothern pennsylvania area, espically in the quintessential town of wellsboro, a stop at the “famous” wellsboro diner is well, a MUST.
classic diner menus are found sitting in a stack at your table awaiting to be dove into, covered with a slight film of butter, grease, not sure. but it’s all part of the experience.first up, chocolate milk. if these little guys don’t make you nostalgic for your kindergarten years… i don’t know what will! i mean… come on ya’ll..
they just make my heart happy!
hashbrowns. corned beef hash. ham & cheese omelet and butter smothered toast.let’s start off but noting that i don’t care how good you are at food photography…. corned beef hash is made to look sloppy. and that sloppy mess, tastes like a slab ‘o heaven. french toast, classic breakfasts and more french toast. because what else do you get after an evening of
too much wine?!cheese, oh glorious cheese. let’s predict how many calories are in one bite?
just kidding. by now, you know how much i love any form of french fries. and these potato diced hash browns did not fail me. crispy and hot on the outside, steamy and dense on the inside.
you can indeed mess up this go-to breakfast side, but wellsboro diner, you win.
now to the good part… diner pie.
you know, that rotating 5 tiered glass you bypass on your walk into the diner? already dreaming of what you’ll be
devouring enjoying post-meal? nothing, holds a spot in my heart quite like diner pie. but you know what holds an ever bigger spot in my food-loving heart?the combination of oreos, reece’s, peanut butter, cream and chocolate. with 12 different in-house baked pie by the town’s contracted pie-maker herself (yes, she’s that in demand), when the reece’s cream pie listed on the dry erase board above the griddle said “HI TAYLOR”, i didn’t bother to finish scanning the list.
and holy goodness. this pie was by far the best, yes, the best pie i had ever had. possibly the best dessert i’ve ever had.
which says a lot coming from me. so wellsboro diner 1 taylor 0.
we left with stomachs
way to full yet happy beyond belief.
next time, wellsboro diner, that triple stacked peanut butter buttermilk pancakes are mine.
